Re: MacGroup: Problem with burning cd's

Hello Marta,

Yup, you can import music off of your cds into your library and then play the music as a playlist (or put it back on a cd if you wish) instead of having to play them off of the cd.
MP3 is a type of compression that makes the file sizes smaller, at a tradeoff of quality of playback. Usually you would need a program that can play the mp3 formatted files, but iTunes can do that if you wish.

I am not sure if this will work in OS-9 or not, but it seems to in
OS-X. (I say seems as i mostly use Toast, but every now and then use
iTunes for this).

There may be a problem with the way you imported the files, or with
already having the blank cd in the machine. Clear out your library of
these titles. Put your mp3s into a folder on the desktop. Go to the
file menu and choose the option "Add To Library..." A window should pop
up allowing you to navigate over to the folder where the mp3 are
hanging out. Open it and select all of them by clicking once on the top
listed song, scroll down to the bottom, hold down the shift key and
then click on the bottom listed song. Click on the Choose button. All
of them will be imported into your library.

(If some of these directions seems 'old hat' to you, forgive me, but I
am not sure how much you use the Mac!)

Create a new playlist and give it a title.

Click on the Library list one select your titles and drag those over to
the playlist. You can do this one at a time or a bunch at once. Your
list should then have the titles. Select your list. Now click on the
Burn CD button. Your CD drive will open (if you have that kind) and you
will be asked to insert a blank cd. Pop one in and you should be able
to get it to burn from there.

Alternatively, you might consider using Toast...
Best wishes with that.

p.s. The same applies for making audio cds as well.

Jerry, while we are on the subject, I have never bothered with the i-tunes
except for playing what is on there already, but if I put a CD with music
into the slot, can I then play it and also import the songs into one of
those empty playlists? I have been wanting to do that for the last few
weeks, but then got sidetracked with the photoshop. And BTW : what does the
Mp3 player stand for and do?

HI, I am Mary Kaye's daughter Abby and I'm having a problem with
iTunes. I'm using an iMac running 9.2. I have downloaded 12 songs from
MP3.com to my iTunes Library and then I copied them into my own
Playlist. I inserted a blank CD-R and successfully prepared it for
burning. I then clicked on the Burn CD icon in the top right hand
corner of the iTunes window. I got the following message "None of the
items on this playlist can be burned to a cd". I went to the
Preferences menu and made sure that MP3 CD was chosen under the CD
Burning tab. I went to apple.com but that was no help. I don't know
what else to try, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Abby
