MacGroup: RE: MS Office 2004, and VPC

Hi,

I get the digest version, so it takes me a bit of time to get your 
notes.

Personally, as far as demoing for the group on this one? Thank you but, 
-  but I don't really know a whole lot about Windows, etc.  I know just 
enough to squeek by. The last time I used another OS (beside MacOS) for 
development was waaay back in 1985, 86 or so, and that was for the 
Amiga. HA!  (The first PC standard color video card, and it was used 
for game development)

I only was just using Virtual PC (VPC) this year to run AutoCad to 
learn its new interface. Doing so, is not something I would recommend 
for general, everyday use, since I found it cuts down speedy work.  But 
VPC did save me from having to buy yet another computer... to use 
AutoCad (and a Pentium at that!)

However, I have been using VPC lately moreso for accessing Windows-only 
document formats on CDs/web. However, I am steering away from using it 
on the web, since  I am a very concerned about getting PC viruses 
through the Windows port on my Mac.
And then what do you do, in order to clean it out? Erase the entire 
hard drive???

I haven't really seen any vendors addressing this issue, how to
protect/ secure Macs using Windows software. Do you have to get 
multiple PC, Mac versions of Nortons for each OS? Or does that get 
crazy? This is a topic of interest to me in regards to running VPC, how 
to maintain the thing.

Hmmm
Perhaps someone from MICROSOFT should come to the meeting to do a 
presentation on VPC???
