Bill,

You have punched one of my hot buttons with this email. There's enough
junk (spam) coming down the pipes that we don't need spam on this list.
And that's what your email is - spam - unwanted email sent to my email box.

You assume a lot when you think others, who signed up for this list, are
interested in reading, on this list, anything not related to the world of
macintosh computers, peripherals, etc. If they are, they've joined other
lists.

I, for one am not interested in receiving sports scores or sports
commentaries via the macusergroup list serve, and will appreciate it if
you keep your non-list related comments off the list.

I hope, others who feel as I do, and the list moderator, will chime in here!

Harry

Hi everyone

As some of you know, I'm an outsider looking in and probably shouldn't be getting involved in group matters, but I'm going to and I think I would have to side with Bill on this one. Apparently he thought the topic interested at least a few of the list readers. Anyone that wasn't interested could simply hit the delete key. That's what it's for.

I hope you're not reading every e-mail in its entirety Harry, just to make sure it conforms to the rules set forth by the governing body. There has to be some room for levity, otherwise the list might eventually die, and I think too much good comes from it to see that happen. I believe every e-mail program includes a subject line. If anyone feels the subject doesn't involve them, it would seem kind of dumb to read the whole thing just to see if it's Mac related.

For example, someone sends in an e-mail with a subject line that reads, "Router help needed". Most people that only have one computer may not be interested in the thread. Should these readers be allowed to protest since it's more of a networking problem than a Mac problem? I'm sure there's several networking lists that anyone looking for this kind of assistance could hook up with. Or should the reader just hit the delete key without taking it any further?

I hope I don't make an enemy out of you, but your last statement in the above e-mail promotes what you're in opposition of. Needless e-mails that aren't Mac related. I thought that was kind of ironic. Hopefully Bill's thread has ended. Let's all enjoy the list.
